Allan Wayne was born on June 5, 1956, in Waterloo, the son of Marvin D. and Mildred (Ridder) Eilderts. He was raised on his family’s farm near Parkersburg and graduated from the Parkersburg High School. Following graduation, he enrolled at the Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls where he earned his associate degree in farm management.

On April 19, 1986, he was united in marriage to Catherine Stangl in Aplington. Together they made their home in a number of different communities before settling in Alton in 1989. Al completed courses in welding through the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon and had been employed at various businesses including Tyson Foods in Orange City, Demco in Boyden, and Casey’s General Store in Alton.

Allan was a member of the Alton Reformed Church, and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He adored his two grandchildren and loved to spend time with them, especially playing ball with his grandson, Jackson. His kind and compassionate nature will be deeply missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife of more than 33 years, Cathie, of Alton; one daughter and her husband, Ashley and Steven Fitch, of Newell; two grandchildren, Jackson and Harper Fitch; his parents, Marvin and Mildred Eilderts, of Parkersburg; two brothers and their wives, Gaylen and Judy Eilderts, of Aplington, and Randy and Deb Eilderts, of Ackley; a sister and her husband, Julie and Prentice Karsjens, of Parkersburg; a sister-in-law, Janette Eilderts, of Dike; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Katharina Ridder, and Dick and Jennie Eilderts; and two brothers, Rodney Eilderts and Brian Eilderts.
