Obituary for Marvin Int Veld

Mr. Marvin Int Veld, age 65, of Orange City, was taken to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:30am, at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Robert Drenten will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Marvin Dean was born on March 20, 1954, in Canton, South Dakota, to Arie and Rena (Brands) Int Veld. He grew up on his family’s acreage east of Inwood, attended the Inwood Christian School, and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull.

On June 8, 1973, he was united in marriage to Betty Jane Top at the Inwood Christian Reformed Church. The couple first made their home near Doon and later moved to Inwood before settling in Orange City in 1976. Marv worked as a diesel mechanic at several shops before accepting a position at De Jong Oil and Repair in Orange City, where he worked for more than 34 years, first as a mechanic and later as the parts manager.

Mr. Int Veld was a member of the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church where he had been a Cadet Counselor. In earlier years he belonged to the Inwood Christian Reformed Church and the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. He volunteered to use his skills to improve the facilities of Unity and Western Christian High Schools, and the Orange City Christian School, where he helped with their annual fundraising auction. He was also a proud member and supporter of the National Rifle Association.

Marv liked to tinker with computers, electronics, and anything mechanical. He enjoyed woodworking, target shooting, bicycling, smoking meats and barbequing, and camping with his extended family.

He is survived by his wife of more than 46 years; four daughters and their husbands, Rachael and Greg Knight, of Henderson; Malissa and Mike Eekhoff, of Olympia, Washington; Rebecca and Wayne Barahona, of Sheldon; and Ashley and Jay Lalk, of Alton; fifteen grandchildren, Emilee, Jasmine, Daisy, and Sadie Knight; Aidan, Lauren, Harper, and Ellison Eekhoff; Ava Barahona; Jon, Joe’l, Joy, Joni, and Rayne Lalk; and Karter Int Veld; a brother and his wife, Arlen and Sue Int Veld, of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; three sisters, Geraldine “Gerri”, and her husband, Gary Burmeister, of Windom, Minnestoa; Bertina “Tina” Case, of Madison Lake, Minnesota; Henrietta “Hank” Van Beek, of Doon; and Evelyn, and her husband, Dennis Gundvaldson, of Worthing, South Dakota; his wife’s mother, Albertha De Jong, of Hull; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife’s father, John Top, and stepfather, Arnold De Jong; and a brother-in-law, Marion Case.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice or the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church.
