Justin Ray “JR” was born February 6, 1989, in South Korea. He was adopted by his loving parents, LeRoy and Crystal (Klomp) De Jager, and welcomed by older siblings Lindsey Marie and Andy Lee Joon, on September 13, 1989. JR grew up in Orange City and attend the Orange City Christian School. In 2007, he graduated from the Unity Christian High School, where he was a participant in track and soccer. As a young adult, JR moved to Sioux Falls and was employed at Frisbee as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technician.

JR was an amazing little brother, and a wonderful uncle to his nephew, Gabriel, with whom he shared a special bond. He was a hard worker, a great friend whose loyalty knew no bounds, a “tough guy” with a kind heart, and a simple man of few words. His shoulders where always there to lean on and his hugs would let you know that things would be alright. Justin touched so many lives and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He lived life to the fullest and his dry sense of humor and sarcasm were a constant source of entertainment. Although he was on this earth for only a short time, his impact will be felt forever.

He will be missed immensely and always remembered by his parents, LeRoy and Crystal De Jager, of Orange City; his sister, Lindsey Hernandez; and his brother, Andy De Jager, both of Sioux City; his nephew, Gabriel Hernandez, also of Sioux City; his paternal grandparents, Ronald and Marleen De Jager, of Maurice; his maternal grandmother, Helen Klomp, of Rock Valley; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by a cousin, Nicholas Van Ginkle; and his maternal grandfather, Marv Klomp.

Memorials may be directed to the De Jager Family for future designation.
