Mrs. Florence Kroese, age 85, of Hull, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, May 10, at 10:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Florence Ruth was born on August 22, 1933, in Middleburg, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Schuurmann) Wissink. She was raised on a farm near Middleburg and attended the Capel Country School No. 4. She graduated from the Western Christian High School in Hull in 1950.

On November 12, 1953, she married Albert John Kroese in Middleburg. They made their home on a farm between Boyden and Hull until 1985, when they moved into Hull. She was a school teacher in a country school for a short time, but worked most of her life as a homemaker, and helped Albert on the farm. Albert passed away on July 7, 2008, in Hull.

Mrs. Kroese was an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed needle work, and crocheted afghans for each of her grandchildren. She was an exceptional and devoted mother and grandmother, who loved caring for and spending time with her family. She was always thankful, content, and optimistic.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Carol and Hank Vande Kraats, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; Jay and Lydia Kroese, of Plymouth, Minnesota; and Emily and James Lund, of Escondido, California; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Sandy and Gary Westra, of Hull; thirteen grandchildren, Ryan Vande Kraats, Kayla Jory, Scott Vande Kraats, Katie Wieringa, Andrew Kroese, Jane Kroese, Ben Kroese, Caleb Kroese, Claire Kroese, Aaron Kroese, Alexandra Lund, Thomas Lund, and Robert Lund; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Gladys and Harry Link, of McAllen, Texas; two brothers, Sherman Wissink, and his wife, Goldene, of Sioux Center, and John Wissink, of Michigan; and a sister-in-law, Johanna Westra, of Hull.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Kroese; a sister and her husband, Bernice and Tom Mulder; and two brothers-in-law, James Kroese, and his wife, Janet, and Sid Westra.

Memorials may be directed to the Western Christian High School or the Hull Christian School.
