LARRY D. OOLMAN

A native to Orange City, Larry was born and raised on a farm three miles west of town. After graduating from the Maurice-Orange City High School and attending Northwestern College in Orange City, he completed the mortuary science program at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He was then employed by the Welander-Quist Funeral Homes in Minneapolis. In 1977, he returned to his home-town, where he purchased the Van Etten Funeral Home.

He is married to Carol, and has two children, Chad and Lori.

Larry enjoys relaxing at their home, and reading the newspaper with the family dog, Brindle.

 
 
CHAD R. OOLMAN

Chad was raised in Orange City, and graduated from the Maurice-Orange City Floyd Valley High School. He attended Northwestern College and then enrolled in the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois. After completing his education, he returned to Orange City to join the family business.

He is a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City, and is active in the local Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce.

 
CAROL L. OOLMAN

Carol was born in North Dakota, and raised in Edina, Minnestoa. She graduated from the Edina High School, and the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's Degree in Mortuary Science. While serving her internship at Welander-Quist, she met and married Larry.

Carol has many interests, including quilting, making beaded jewelry, collecting antiques and babysitting her granddaughter.

The Oolmans belong to the First Reformed Church in Orange City.

 
 
 
MATTHEW J. FEDDERS

Matthew was born and raised in Orange City, the son of Verlyn and Melinda Fedders. He graduated from Maurice-Orange City Floyd Valley High School and then earned a degree in hortculture science (golf course management) from Hawkeye Community College. He is now pursuing a degree in Mortuary Science through Des Moines Area Community College.

Matt and his wife Starr reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with their cat Oscar. Starr is a registered nurse and furthering her education to become a Nurse Anesthetist.

 
 
HALLARD DE JONG

Hallard began working part time as an assistant after retiring from the Northwestern State Bank in Orange City. He is married to Shirley, and keeps busy with occasional travel and has owned a number of different horses over the years. He belongs to the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City.

 
PAUL KOETS

Paul began working as an assistant at the funeral home after retiring from teaching. He is married to Fran, also a retired school teacher, and keeps very busy volunteering. Paul is a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City.

 
NORMA STANDER

Norma is the housekeeper at the funeral home in Orange City. She and her husband, Jack, farm south of Orange City. They are members of the First Reformed Church in Orange City.

 
W. DALE KRAAI

Dale is the former owner of the Kraai Funeral Home in Hull. He has assisted the Oolmans since selling the business to them in 1983. He often travels to Omaha to see children and enjoys playing golf with his usual foursome. He belongs to the American Reformed Church in Hull.

 
DELMAR & VIOLA KUPER

Delmar and Vi live at the funeral home in Hull, where they serve as caretakers and assistants. Vi is active at the American Reformed Church and volunteers at the Pleasant Acres Care Center, both in Hull. Together they enjoy camping at several area parks.

 
CHASPER & LUCIA VANDER PLOEG

Chap is the former owner of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Hospers. He and Cia currently help the Oolmans at the chapel there. They are also members of the First Reformed Church in Hospers and enjoy visiting their nine children all over the United States.
