MARIAN B. REYELTS
Mrs. Marian Reyelts, age 77, of Hull, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
There will be a funeral service on Friday, February 20, at 1:30pm, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull. The Rev. John Riggle will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Marian Bertha was born on November 6, 1931, in Sioux City, the daughter of Elmer and Mabel (Techen) Anderson. Her mother passed away when she was five months old. She was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Techen, at Hull, where she graduated from the public high school.
On December 26, 1949, she married Henry Van Dyk in Sheldon. They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. Henry passed away on March 19, 1981, in Hull, after 31 years of marriage.
On November 30, 1985, she married William Claus Reyelts in Hull, where they continued to live. They travelled throughout the United States. For eight years, she worked part-time at Den Hoed's Greenhouse in rural Boyden.
In October of 2007, Mrs. Reyelts became a resident of Pleasant Acres.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she participated in the ladies aid and served as a Sunday school teacher for sixteen years. She also belonged to the Wegman-Koele American Legion Post Auxiliary in Hull.
Marian enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, canning, cooking, baking, especially brownies, gardening, quilting, and sewing.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Bill; four children and their spouses, Daryl and Jasmine Van Dyk and Loren Van Dyk, all of Hull; Lloyd and Susan Van Dyk, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Connie & Rigo Mendez, of Boyden; six step-children and their spouses, Karen and Kenny Stuven, of George; Donna and Joe Gingras, of Rock Rapids; Glenda and Charlie Bryson, of Schleswig; Loren and Mary Ellen Reyelts, of Hull; Lola Hindbjorgen , of Hendriks, Minnesota; and Marcia and Dennis Orcutt, of Columbia City, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Triestan Van Dyk, Victoria Van Dyk, Gary Wright, Kyland Van Dyk, Melinda Van Dyk, Jennifer Van Dyk, Jessica Van Dyk, Kristen Mendez, and Kevin Mendez; five great-grandchildren, Fate, Neviah, Michael, Devin, and Trinity Van Dyk; three sisters and their spouses, Judy and Art Kooi, of Hull; Marlene and Arnold Techen, of George; and Jan and Dale Schulte, of Kingston, Georgia; a brother and his wife, Terry and Julene Anderson, of Hull; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Anderson, of Hull.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Anderson.
Memorials may be directed to the church Sunday school.
