HENRIETTA RENSINK

Miss Henrietta Rensink, age 95, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2009, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, November 27, at 1:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Keith Krebs will officiate. Interment will follow at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton. Visitation with the family present will be the hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Henrietta was born on January 8, 1914, in rural Hospers, the daughter of Gerrit and Josie (Keizer) Rensink. She was raised at Newkirk, where she graduated from high school. She also attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City.

Later, she settled in Orange City, where she was a secretary in the law offices of Van Oosterhout, Te Paske, Rens, Rensink, and Pluim for many years. In 2002, she became a resident of the Heritage House.

In earlier years, Miss Rensink was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church, where she participated in the girls' society. For most of her adult life, she belonged to the American Reformed Church in Orange City. She was a generous person, who gave to many charities, especially Jews for Jesus.

She enjoyed bowling, quilting, traveling, and playing Scrabble and card games. She had a deep love for her nephews and nieces.

Survivors include her sister, Eleanor Van Gelder, of Alton; and five nephews and one niece and their spouses, Roger and Sheryl Koster, Leon and Ruth Koster, Beth and Ed Ascher, David and Rachel Van Gelder, Philip and Starla Van Gelder, and Mark and Anna Van Gelder.

She was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Lyda and John Koster, and a brother-in-law, Reynold Van Gelder.
