WILHELMINA GESINK

Mrs. Wilhelmina Gesink, age 88, of Sheldon, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, April 21, at 10:00am, at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. The Rev. Kevin Muyskens will officiate. Interment will be later at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton, Colorado. Visitation will be after 6:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Wilhelmina was born on February 16, 1921, in Orange City, the daughter of Andrew and Susan (Wielenga) Wassenaar. She was raised at Orange City.

On April 30, 1945, she married William J. Gesink at Orange City. They made their home in Denver, Colorado, where she was a homemaker and also did housekeeping for others. Bill passed away on May 26, 1990, in Denver.

In 2001, Mrs. Gesink returned to Iowa, where she resided at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon.

She was a member of the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church and a former member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Denver. She enjoyed fixing puzzles and playing card games, and she was very involved at Fieldcrest.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Arlan and Charmaine Gesink, of Archer; five grandchildren, David, Katie, and Abby Gesink, and Dana and Tyson Kester; and three brothers, Alfred Wassenaar, of Sheldon; James Wassenaar, of Orange City; and Stanley Wassenaar, of Yucca Valley, California.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Joubert, and Ralph Wassenaar.
