JEANETTE A. CUPERUS

Mrs. Jeanette Cuperus, age 93, of Hull, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, February 28, at 10:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. Pastor Paul Hansen will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Jeanette Alyda was born on January 28, 1916, in Roseland Park, Illinois, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Hofstede) Dykstra. She was raised at Sheldon, where she graduated from the Christian School and, as a young adult, was employed at the Christian Retirement Home.

On August 29, 1940, she married Louis Cuperus in Sheldon. They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker and, in later years, worked at Heynen Drapery. For many winters, they traveled south during that season. Lou passed away on July 11, 2000, in Hull, after almost sixty years of marriage.

In July of 2003, Mrs. Cuperus became a resident of the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and the Bereans.

Jeanette enjoyed sewing, gardening, Bible studies, concerts and attending her children's and grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Betty and Ron Techen, Earl and Marge Cuperus, Vell and Jim Keizer, and Lavonne and Walt den Hoed, all of Hull; fourteen grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Zuiderhof; a grandson-in-law, Kel Kooima; and an infant great-granddaughter, Kyla Cuperus, daughter of Chris and Bonnie.
