ERWIN C. BOSMA
Mr. Erwin Bosma, age 73, of rural Hospers, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at his farm home.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday, April 4, at 10:30am, at the First Presbyterian Church, P. C. A., in Hospers. The Rev. Brian Janssen will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hospers Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the CHURCH. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.
Erwin Cornelius was born on February 24, 1936, at Hospers, the son of Ike and Elizabeth (Vander Veen) Bosma. He was raised at Hospers, where he graduated from the Christian School.
On October 14, 1960, he married Margaret Joan Boone in Sanborn. They made their home on their farm east of Hospers for 48 years. In later years, in addition to farming, he operated his own business, Bosma Excavating. He specialized in removing abandoned tracks at railroad crossings, often working in the southern part of the United States.
Erv was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed camping, golfing, playing cards, and traveling, going south for many winters. He was fond of all his many dogs.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rebecca Roby, of Gilbert, Arizona; two granddaughters, Hayley and Mady Roby; eight brothers and sisters, Sadie Vander Weide, of Ontario, California; Harry Bosma, of Hospers; Jeanette (Andy) Bosch, of Sheldon; Clarence (Doris) Bosma, of Canajoharie, New York; Betty (Robert) Pekelder, of Sheldon; Sophia LeMasurier, of Cherry Valley, California; Joe (Mary) Bosma, of Hospers; and Lori Muilenburg, of Sheldon; many nephews and nieces; and his parents-in-law, Chuck and Jeanette Boone, of Sanborn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Grace Boer, Winnie Blom, Clara Roos, Ruth Crawford, and Margaret Wallick; and his dog, Molly.
Memorials may be directed to the Northwest Iowa Dialysis Center in Hospers.
