ELIZABETH J. BOONE

Mrs. Elizabeth Boone, age 86, of Hospers, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, March 21, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Hospers. The Rev. Milton Sikkema will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hospers Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.

Elizabeth Jacoba was born on September 30, 1922, in rural Hospers, the daughter of Henry and Dora (Mantel) De Haan. She was raised in the Newkirk area.

On February 18, 1942, she married Elden Boone in Hospers. They made their home in Hospers, where she was a homemaker. “Bud” passed away on December 13, 1987, in Sheldon, after 45 years of marriage.

“Liz” was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she had been involved with the Kids' Club, the choir, fundraisers, and visiting the sick.

She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also liked to knit, crochet, solve word puzzles, and play cards with friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Doris Bajema, of Escondido, California; and Darlo Boone, and his wife, Jean, of Sheldon; three grandsons, Michael Bajema, and his wife, Rachelle, of San Marcos, California; and Aaron Boone, and his wife, Melissa, and Jason Boone, all of Sheldon; three great-grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Bajema and Emma Boone; her sister, Alice Langstraat, of Orange City, and her family; and her sister-in-law, Ida De Haan, of Artesia, California, and her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John De Haan; her brother-in-law, Lester Langstraat; and her husband's parents, Tony and Anna Boone.
